IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joann Carol
Holt
January 20, 1956 – January 29, 2025
JoAnn Carol Holt, age 69, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025. Born on January 20, 1956, in St. Paul, Minnesota, JoAnn was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
JoAnn was predeceased by her parents, Donald Schmidt and Cleora Meidl, who instilled in her the values of kindness, integrity, and community.
She cherished her family deeply and is survived by her devoted husband of 18 years, Steven Holt, who stood by her side as a loving partner. JoAnn's legacy is carried on by her siblings: Patricia (Al) Symanietz, Carolyn (Peter) Veller, Cheryl (Paul) Beane, Cindy (Michael) Galles, Bruce (Gail) Schmidt, Donald (Marla) Schmidt, and Jerry (Linda) Schmidt. She was not only a sister but also a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, who will remember her fondly for her warmth and gentle spirit. Family gatherings were a cherished tradition for JoAnn, where she loved to share stories and create lasting memories with her loved ones, including Neiland Holt, Evette Holt, and Hailey Holt, who were a significant part of her life.
Throughout her life, JoAnn dedicated herself to her career as an Administrative Assistant at the Illinois Hospital Association, where she served with compassion and dedication. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her professional life, as she was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary of AMVETS and VFW, and the St. George Citizens Club. JoAnn's heart was as big as her community involvement; she found joy in giving back and supporting those around her.
JoAnn was known for her vibrant personality and her unique hobbies. She had a passion for shopping on QVC, which brought her immense joy, and was an avid collector of Christopher Radko ornaments, each piece a reflection of her love for beauty and craftsmanship. She loved to cheer on her favorite teams, the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks and White Sox. Her zest for life was infectious, and her laughter could light up a room.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hold your loved ones close and cherish the moments shared, as JoAnn would have wanted.
