Joan C. Wittrup, age 77, passed away on October 25, 2025, in Naperville, IL. Joan was born in Cicero, IL and raised in Downers Grove, IL where she attended Downers Grove North High School. She received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University and a Master's degree in Education from National-Louis University. Joan valued education and worked tirelessly in education for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed the peace of her lakefront home in Dixon, IL.

There was nothing Joan valued more than her family. A true matriarch, she was the glue that kept the family close knit. She treasured time spent with the people she loved. She met the love of her life, Stephen, during her freshman year in college. They recently celebrated fifty-seven happy years of marriage. Their marriage was solid and provided their daughters with a wonderful example of what marriage should be.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving parents, Raymond and Jennie Napolski and her sister, Donna Confer.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen Wittrup; loving daughters Deborah (Terry) Jones and Christine (Frank) Diliberto; granddaughters Zoe and Lauren Jones; grandsons Nicholas, Anthony, and Michael Diliberto; sister Mary Ann (Bret) Steinhaus; brother Thomas (Sunshine) Napolski; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, October 28th from 4-7 pm at Dunn Family Funeral Home, 1801 South Douglas Rd. Oswego, IL. 60543 Final resting service will be private at Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate.
