Joan Ann Chuk, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at the age of 97 at the Bardwell Residences in Aurora, IL. She was born on January 26, 1928, in Burnham, Illinois, to her parents, Michael and Voleslawa nee Niwinski Stanislawski.

Joan married the love of her life, Charles "Chuck" Chuk, on April 11, 1953. Together they created a warm and loving home, raising four children who would forever be grateful for the lessons of love, resilience, and kindness that she imparted. Joan is survived by her daughter Deborah (Gary) Bonifas of Sugar Grove, IL; daughter Lisa (Bill) Kuhn of Genoa, IL; and son Mark (Robin) Chuk of Aurora, IL. She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Nicholas (Rorry) Bonifas, Christopher (Stephanie) Bonifas, Michael (Jenna) Kuhn, Jason Kuhn, and Vanessa Chuk, as well as her great-granddaughters Francesca "Frankie" Bonifas and Josephine "Joey" Bonifas. Joan is also survived by several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Throughout her life, Joan dedicated herself to being a homemaker, ensuring that her family was nurtured with love and care. She was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, Illinois, and contributed her time and efforts to the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 695. Joan's unwavering faith and community spirit were a testament to her character, as she always found ways to give back and support those around her. Joan was not only devoted to her family and community; she was also an avid bowler, finding joy and camaraderie in the sport. Whether in league play or sharing laughs with friends, her passion for bowling brought her happiness and social connections that she cherished deeply.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles "Chuck" Chuk, her son Charles M. Chuk, her granddaughter Cassandra Chuk, her sisters Julia Lewandowski and Stella Kadzielawski, and her brothers Leonard Stanislawski and Tom Stanislawski.

Joan will be remembered not just for her roles as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but for her kindness, warmth, indomitable spirit and strength. She taught her family the importance of love, unity, and perseverance — lessons that will be passed down through generations. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
