Jessie M. Hafenrichter, age 87, of Oswego, IL, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Seasons Hospice of Naperville, IL. She was born January 21, 1928 Lowell, OK, the daughter of the late Tom and Mattie nee Slaughter Jones.
Jessie was united in marriage in 1948 to Alvin Kleinschmidt, the father of her daughter Chris. She later married Lee Hafenrichter on January 8, 1971. Jessie devoted her life to improving Kendall County. She served 40 years on the Kendall County Tax Board of Review and served as chairman for her last 25 years. She served on the Kendall County board for 16 years; also serving as board liaison to the Health Department for 10 years. She also served on the Finance Committee for 10 years. She was a pioneer in establishing public transportation and preserving Kendall County's natural beauty. Jessie laid the groundwork for future generations to continue the improvement of Kendall County for its citizens.
She is survived by her daughter Chris (Greg) Balog of Oswego, IL, grandchildren Jason Balog of Oswego, IL, Lauren (Jason) Sample of Yorkville, Alex (Kirsten) Balog of Yorkville, IL, great-granddaughter Ava Sample of Yorkville, IL, sister-in-law Polly Jones of Shreveport, LA and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Alvin Kleinschmidt, second husband Lee Hafenrichter, sister Elizabeth Hamilton and brother Jack Jones.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL.
