Jeff Smeets, 52, of Oswego, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Jeff loved spending time with his family playing cards and listening to music. He looked forward to meeting his friends and family for lunch at their favorite restaurants and playing slots and roulette at the casinos. His hobbies also included adding to and organizing his extensive collectibles collection. His love of music started at an early age and included his singing in Madrigals, performing in West Side Story, and playing the guitar. He loved going to concerts and updating his various I-Tunes playlists and listening to his favorite 70's and 80's songs. After his years working at Argonne National Laboratory as a Waste Management Mechanic Jeff enjoyed being able to stay home to raise his two children. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Aurora. Jeff is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jenny, his beloved children, Brett and Kelly, his sister Robin (Dan) Davis, brother Greg (Jeanette) Smeets, nephews Michael Davis, Brad (Erin) and Collin Davis, Tony (Katie) Davis, Stephen Davis, Brandon (Taylor Kane) Smeets, Niece Brittany (Johnny Goodson) Smeets, nephews Will and Chris Larson, and Zander Markov. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Carol Smeets, and his grandparents Eleanor and August Smith and Robert and Sarah Smeets. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28th, 2022 from 3pm - 8pm at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Rd, Oswego, IL 60543. Funeral Service will be Friday, April 29th, 2022 at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL.
