Jeanne G. Van Boekel, age 88, of Yorkville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 7, 1937, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to the late Raymond and Marie Mertens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael.
Jean is survived by her sister, Kathy Baginski; her children, Cheryl (Mike) Soelke of Collierville, TN, Tom (Pam) Van Boekel of Cape Coral, FL, Debbie (Jon) Olson of Charlotte, NC, and David (Lisa) Van Boekel of Montgomery, IL; eleven grandchildren: Michael (Alex) Soelke, Keegan (Kasey) Crocker, Kaylee (DJ) Wilemon, Tyler (Jordan) Van Boekel, Cameron (Erica) Van Boekel, Kathryn Van Boekel, Kari (Ryan) Kostolansky, Kyle Olson, Adam (Melissa) Van Boekel, Rachel (fiancé, Alec) Van Boekel, and Sarah Van Boekel; thirteen great-grandchildren: Ethan, Ryan, Clark, Scott, Sloane, Conley, Parker, Kinsey, Cade, Cole, Conner, River, and Journey; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jean made the world's best brownies, enjoyed treasure hunting with her friend Judy, playing bingo, and wintering in Florida. She never met a stranger, and her infectious personality made everyone laugh. Jean's family meant the world to her, and she loved to spend time with them.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 9:30 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, Illinois. Interment will take place following the funeral service at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Aurora, Illinois.
