Jean Marie Vartiak was born on June 28, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois and passed peacefully at home on January 31, 2016 after courageous battles with cancer: breast, thyroid, leukemia and pancreatic. Jean had several careers over the years: licensed cosmetologist, real estate agent, and phlebotomist, but her favorite job was being a stay-at-home wife and mom. Jean is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Vartiak, who stood by her in sickness and in health; her loving children: Jeffrey Paul (Kim), James Peter and Jaclynne Genevieve; precious grandchildren: Madalynne Marie Wagner Vartiak and Henry Joseph Vartiak; siblings: Carol McCallum, Edward (Sandy) McCallum and David (Kim) McCallum; in-laws: Gail (Joseph) Sanders, Joseph (Bo) Vartiak, James (Ronna) Vartiak; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Jean had many wonderful friends whom she loved and considered family: Debbie & Don Dybas, Denise & Larry Vana, Donna & Joe Leahy, Bruce & Terri Lanphear, Delpha & Mike Seng and Toni & Wayne Skwarek. A huge thank you goes out to all of the family and friends who helped out over the years. Their kindness and support meant the world to Jean and her family. Jean is reunited with her parents: Bill & Carol McCallum, in-laws: Joe & Helen Vartiak and her beloved grandmother Genevieve Cummings.
