IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean "Jeannie" Carol
O'Connor
September 27, 1953 – March 4, 2025
Jean "Jeannie" Carol O'Connor, born on September 27, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York, was sent to her eternal home on March 4, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of Carl and Stefania Dietrich.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her cherished husband of 47 years, Patrick. She is survived by her daughter Lori (Mike) Melton; son Patrick (Rachel) O'Connor; grandchildren Ashley Paul, Mason and Addison O'Connor, and Jackson and Kylie Melton; sisters Marlene Belousek and Debbie (Tim) Fogarty; sisters in law; brothers in law; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends that were family to her.
Her parents moved their family to Orland Park, Illinois, when she was in grade school, and she grew up and met her sweetheart Patrick there. Jean married Patrick John O'Connor on August 31, 1970, and they moved to Oswego in 1977, raising their children Lori and Patrick Jr. there.
Jean was a homemaker for many years when her children were growing up. She later earned her medical coding certificate and worked at several jobs utilizing her skill, where she made many treasured lifetime friends.
Her greatest joys were her husband, kids, grandkids, and close friends. She loved to travel with her husband, shop and go to symphony performances with her daughter Lori, antique shop with her friends, stamp beautiful homemade cards with her daughter Rachel, spend time with her son Patrick (especially watching him at the racetrack), and go to all sporting and musical events her kids and grandkids were in. She was their biggest cheerleader and supporter!
All that knew Jean loved her beautiful smile and heart. She loved to care for others, cook for them, and plan and give them parties. She loved holidays. Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
