Janis H Hoch, 90, of Oswego, IL died on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Bickford of Oswego, IL. She was born April 22, 1934, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of George W and Jewel H nee Jacobs Essenpreis.

She was an avid golfer and known in the Oswegoland area as a very talented artist, painting many historic locations within the community. Janis was instrumental in the establishment of the Oswegoland Heritage Association to save the Little White School House in 1976 and served as the organization's first president. She was a member of the Auxiliary of Oswego American Legion Post #675.

She is survived by her daughter Jeanne (Ken) Hester, son Jeff (Terry) Hoch, six grandchildren Greg (Kelley) Chrisse, Gail (Ellis) Maldonado, Jennifer (Jason) Strode, Jason (Missy) Hoch, Katie (Andrew) Menzl, Ryan (Sarah) Hoch, and eighteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Hoch, son James Hoch, two grandsons, Jimmy Hoch, Christopher Hoch, sister Alice Stearns and a brother Daniel Essenpreis.

Private family graveside service was held at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
