Janina Koziel, a beloved mother, grandmother, friend and loving wife, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 88, in Aurora, Illinois at Rush-Copley Medical Center. Born on March 19, 1937, in Poland, Janina lived a life filled with love, resilience, and the warmth of family, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Janina's journey began in Poland, where she was surrounded by the beauty of nature that would later become one of her greatest passions. She found solace in long walks, often taking the time to appreciate the world around her. Her connection to nature was only rivaled by her deep love for her family. As a mother to her daughter, Margaret Siragusa, and her son, Adam Koziel, she instilled values of kindness, compassion, and strength in them, which they carry forward in their own lives.

Janina was also a proud grandmother to her three grandchildren: Anna (fiancé Devin Curtis), Maria (fiancé Tanner English), and Dominic Siragusa. She adored her grandchildren, often sharing in their joys and accomplishments, and her spirit will continue to guide them as they navigate life's journey.

A devoted member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, Illinois, Janina found community and solace in her faith. Her contributions and participation in church activities reflected her commitment to nurturing a sense of belonging and support within her community.

Janina was preceded in death by her husband, Stanislaw Koziel, her parents, and several siblings in Poland.
