James Alan Rissman, age 72, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his residence in Sheridan, IL.
He was born April 30, 1949, in Aurora, IL, to Dale and Margie (Templeman) Rissman.
Survivors include daughter Julie (Seth) Kruizenga; two sons Brian (Lauren) Rissman, Burke Adam (Emily) Rissman; six grandchildren Karli and Cortni Kruizenga, Bryn Rissman, and Alexandra, Gabriel, & Jaxon Rissman; sister Kim (Kim) Duffy; three brothers Wayne (Doris) Rissman, Dick (Marcia) Rissman, Reid (Mary) Rissman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Dale Lee Conrad, brother Kelly Rissman, and his beloved dog Sally.
James served his country honorably with the US Navy in Vietnam. He was a member of VFW Post 2470 in Ottawa, IL, former Commander of the Post and District Commander of the VFW. He formerly worked at DeKalb Forge CO. in DeKalb, IL, as a correctional officer at the Sheridan Correctional Center in Sheridan, IL, and as a deputy sheriff in Linn County, MO.
Jim enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, cooking, drawing, and playing dominoes. His passion and ability to make people smile will greatly be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
Cremation took place at American Crematory in Oswego, IL.
