F. James "Jim" Garbe, age 90 years of Oswego, IL died Monday, July 30, 2018 at Symphony at the Tillers in Oswego. He was born December 11, 1927 in Aurora, IL the son of the late Frank B and Lucille Garbe. He worked at Garbe Iron Works in Aurora, IL from 1950, serving as the President and Chairman of the Board, until his retirement in 2001. He was member and former chairman of the board of Mercy Center Hospital, he served on the board of Aurora University, he was a former president of the Aurora Foundation. He was a member of the Fox Valley Industrial Association, Aurora Chamber of Commerce serving a term as the president and of the Exchange Club of Aurora. Jim was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego where he served on the committee to rebuild the church. Jim also served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife Martha Garbe whom he married in Aurora, IL on September 18, 1976, five children, Michael (Peg) Garbe of Oswego, IL, Susan (Richard) Rhoads of Aurora, IL, Cynthia (Kim Chappell) Garbe of Fountain Hills, AZ, Peter Garbe of Gilbert, AZ and Laura Garbe of Montgomery, IL. Five grandchildren, Scott (April) Garbe of OH, Beth Garbe of IL, Bridgette (Sean) West of IA, Matthew Rhoads of TN and Daniel Rhoads of IL, seven great grandchildren, one sister Maxine Foster of CA. He was preceded in death by his first wife Beth Murphy Garbe in 1974, four brothers Leroy, Ralph, Donald and Earl Garbe Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, IL 60543. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM St. Anne Catholic Church 551, Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL. Burial will be in Mt.
