James W Frankino, age 76, of Oswego, IL died peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 19, 1942 in Aurora, IL the son of the late Joseph E and Justina nee Lemezis Frankino.
He was a member of the Class of 1960 of East Aurora High School. He served his country honorably in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a member of St Therese of Jesus Catholic Church, American Legion Post #675 (former Post Commander and Chairman for Bingo), Italian American Club (former President), Amvets Post #103 of Aurora, IL, Montgomery Memorial Post 745 VFW of Montgomery, IL. In his spare time he played Santa in the area bringing joy to many, umpired Oswego Pony League baseball. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox, Indianapolis Colts, bowling, fishing, softball and horseshoes. For many years Jim and his wife went around local cemeteries placing US flags on the graves of veterans for Memorial Day.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Ann nee Hamman Frankino, two brothers John (Claudia) Frankino, Jared (Cindy) Frankino and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother Joe Frankino, Jr.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St Therese of Jesus Church 271 N Farnsworth Ave Aurora, IL 60505. Burial with military honors will take place at Marywood Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
