It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of James Joseph Feeley, who departed this world peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on February 13, 1939, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, James was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Rosemary (nee Cromp) Feeley. He now joins in eternal rest his beloved wife Patricia, his cherished granddaughter Patricia Rose Feeley, his dear siblings Ellen Lapinski, Patricia Feeley, and Michael J. Feeley, and his devoted parents.
James's journey was one marked by dedication, love, and service. A devoted patriarch, he leaves behind a legacy cherished deeply by his surviving family: his loving son Patrick Feeley and daughter-in-law Jennifer of Graham, North Carolina, his caring daughter Bridget Ann Stencel and son-in-law Gary of Chicago, Illinois. He is further survived by his adoring grandchildren Diana Feeley, Ariel Feeley, and Jami Feeley, and a great-granddaughter who brought immeasurable joy to his life, Francesca Grace.
James's career was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his community. He retired in 2004 after a distinguished career as a dispatcher for the City of Chicago EMT & Fire Department, where he played a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of countless individuals. His professionalism and dedication to his work left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Beyond his career, James was a man of faith and service, dedicated to his community and church. A devout member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL, he found strength and solace in his faith. His life was also enriched by his involvement with the Oswego, IL Police Department Alumni Association, the Knights of Columbus #7247, and as a former president of the Oswegoland Seniors. James's commitment to the St. Anne Seniors showcased his passion for fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among his peers.
James was a man who embodied the virtues of kindness, humility, and generosity. His gentle spirit and infectious smile left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He possessed an unwavering love for his family and friends, and his presence was a source of comfort and strength. His life was a testament to the power of love, and his memory will forever be a guiding light for those he leaves behind
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the Masses at St. Anne Catholic Church of Oswego, IL, ensuring that his legacy of faith and service continues to thrive. As we bid farewell to James Joseph Feeley, we hold dear the memories of a remarkable man who touched so many lives. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be missed beyond measure. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of those who have gone before him, and may his spirit continue to inspire us all.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543.
