James E. Duncan Sr. 72, of Newark died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Morris Hospital.
James was born January 14, 1943 in Franklin Co. Alabama to Sidney & Susie (Scott) Duncan. He married Katherine Marie Denhamer March 24, 1984 in Bolingbrook. Katherine passed August 29, 2010. He was a millwright for International Harvester – Navistar Co. in Melrose Park, retiring in 2009. He was a member of West Lisbon Church and the United Auto Workers Union.
He is survived by his three daughters - Pamela (Michael) Napolitano of Aurora, Anita Duncan of Romeoville, Bonnie Duncan of Chicago; four sons, Robert Gruber of Port Barrington, IL., Richard (Wendy) Gruber of Crest Hill, John (Sylvia) Duncan of Braidwood, James (Marie) Duncan Jr. of Romeoville; fourteen grandchildren, Christopher Napolitano, Shawn Sahlberg, Ana Marie Napolitano, Emily Gruber, Vincent Rodriguez, Mikayla Gruber, Aaden Gruber, Nicholas Gruber, Haley Gruber, Jake Floresca, Alexis Floresca, Ben Floresca, John Cody Duncan, Gabriella Duncan; two great grandchildren, Ileana Sahlberg, Madison Napolitano; two sisters, Faye Swick of Phil Campbell, AL, Lorraine Hallman of Phil Campbell, AL. and close friend Karen Beilman of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Katherine; a grandson, Dylan Gruber; a brother, Robert Duncan and a sister Eunice (Olean) Cruz.
A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 29th with Pastor Rex Howe officiating at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd, 102 S. Johnson St., Newark, IL, 60541-0623, phone 815-695-5131. Inurnment of cremains will be at the West Lisbon Cemetery.
