Helen Marie Ward, 92, of Crandon WI died on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born July 19, 1931, in Beloit, WI. Helen was the daughter of the late Paul E & Norma Marie Bollinger, of Sharon Wisconsin. Helen grew up on the family farm along with 2 sisters Mary Jean Samuelson, of Rockford Illinois, the late Ruth White, of Clinton Wisconsin, and brother Ralph Bollinger, of Sharon WI.

Helen was a graduate of the Swedish American school of Nursing in Rockford, IL. After graduation, she practiced her nursing skills at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford IL, Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL, & other nursing homes within the surrounding areas. She was the treasurer of the Wisconsin Resources Protection Council, and at one time served as an election judge in the Town of Nashville, Wi.

Helen was proceeded by her late husband Thomas R Ward. Helen met Tom Ward on a blind date in 1954, and they were married on New Years eve 1955 one year later. Mr. and Mrs. Ward operated a boys special needs camp, Camp Timberlane, for many years in Crandon, WI. Helen had many friends in Illinois and Wisconsin who enjoyed her sweet charm, calming manner and loving counsel.

Helen & Tom were proud to have raised their 5 children in 2 communities, Glen Ellyn Illinois & Crandon Wisconsin.

Helen is survived by her 5 children Susan Marvin (Jeff) Roberts WI. Peggy Plummer (Mike) Great Falls Montana, Josephine (Josie) Kolzow Oswego IL, John Ward Green Bay Wisconsin, & Robert (Bob) Ward North Aurora IL. (Best Mom ever)

Helen is survived by, six grandchildren, Kristy TE Slaa (Jason) Ben Plummer (Alison), Evan Marvin (Alex), Glenn Marvin, Krystal Madai (James) Shannon Palmer (John).

Ten great grandchildren Weston, Logan, Devin, Ethan TE Slaa, Nolan & Clayton Madai, Evelyn & Camilla Plummer, & Alexa & Landon Palmer.

Helen enjoyed more than anything spending time at her home in the woods, the home she and her husband built many years ago. She loved living in the community with her family and the surrounding neighbors who made the area her home.

Helen enjoyed completing puzzles that had no missing pieces and reading books during her down time. She enjoyed the company of her K-9 companion and nap partner Hunter, & her 2 cats, Buddy & Danny.

She will be loved and missed forever by all those who had the good fortune to have known her.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, time is TBD tentative. A memorial service will be held at Weber Hill & Packard Funeral Home Crandon, WI 715-478-2322
