Hazel Edith Williams, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2021, due to complications following a heart attack.
She was born August 27th, 1944, in Durban, South Africa, to Henry and Margaret Tayfield. She married Thomas Williams in December 1966.
Hazel was deeply dedicated to her work. She found purpose in helping others reach their potential, which she did in many different capacities over her lifetime. Hazel impacted thousands of lives positively for over 30 years at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in South Africa. She began a career at Edy's Ice Cream in 1994 and worked her way into Human Resources. In this capacity, her kindness and concern for the well-being of employees were evident. At Benedictine University, where she ended her career, Hazel committed herself to the adult students she served. Her goal was to make sure they graduated and were able to achieve their dreams. Hazel was cherished by students and staff alike.
Hazel earned a Bachelors's degree in Management and her Masters's in Business Administration at Benedictine University.
Hazel is survived by Thomas Williams, children, Debra (Richard), Distasio of Stockton, California, Tracy (Dave) Teichman of Yorkville, Illinois. Grandchildren Eric and Michael DiStasio, Alison, Irene, and Helen Doyle and many friends and relatives both locally and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Tayfield, Brother Peter Tayfield, and Granddaughter, Teague Doyle.
In consideration of public health restrictions at this time, a celebration of life will be held when restrictions are lifted.
