Harry Wayne Mason, 89, of Norway died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Harry was born February 21, 1925 in Ottawa to Harold Roy & Wave (Larson) Mason. He had been a lifelong farmer in the Norway area and during that time had also worked at the Seneca Shipyards during WWII, was a truck driver for Rock Island Depot, an operating engineer for the M.M. Erb Excavating Co. and a school bus driver for Rutland Grade School. He had served several years on the Miller Twp. Board, was a member of the Ottawa Moose Lodge #960 and was a lifelong member of the LaSalle Co. Farm Bureau. He married Maisie Fortado May 27, 1945 in Ottawa. Maisie passed February 10, 1976. He married Agnes Frig-Gaudi April 1, 1977 in Brighton, CO. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Agnes Mason of Norway; his four children, Jane Marie (Ray) Walter of Darlington, WI., Dan (Jayne) Mason of Norway, Vicky (Michael) Schmidt of Ottawa, Judy Mason (Steve Mellendorf) of Marseilles; four step-children, Luanne (Jimmy) Nosko of Branson, MO., Jack (Sharon) Gaudi of Franklin Park, Linda Baity of Mokena, Francis (Carolyn) Gaudi of Lockport; his nine grandchildren, Matthew (Penelope Trunk) Walter, Sarah (Larry) Pedelty, Rebecca (John) Long, Angel (Brian) Mulhern, Kelsey (Lee) Meyer, Kyle Mason, Cal Mason, Casey (Richard) Killion, Lauren (Johnny) Holt; ten step-grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; a brother, Myron Lee (Jean) Mason of Marseilles and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife Maisie Mason; a brother, Daniel Keith Mason; two step-children, Joseph Gaudi, James Gaudi and a step-granddaughter, Jillian Baity. Visitation will be held Monday, January 5th from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. In Sheridan. Father Michael Driscoll of the OSF. St. Elizabeth Medical Center will officiate. Interment will be at the Brumbach Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Ray Walter, Matthew Walter, Kyle Mason, Cal Mason, Lee Meyer, Tom Hawk, Steve Mellendorf and Mike Schmidt. Memorials may be directed to the donors choice.
