Karen Rose Hanson, age 72, of Montgomery, IL died suddenly on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born December 11, 1941 in Chicago Heights, IL the daughter of the late Melvin and Dorothy nee Saum Weiss. Karen was a member of St Luke's Lutheran Church in Montgomery, IL and the Red Hat Society of Oswego, IL. She volunteered for many years at St Luke's Church, Long Beach Elementary School both in Montgomery, IL and the Phoenix Club in Aurora, IL. For many years she was a food demonstrator for Dominick's Food Stores in the area. She was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and NASCAR cheering her favorite driver Kevin Harvick. She was a regular visitor to Branson, MO for over twenty five years. Karen is survived by her husband Gary A Hanson (Whom she married on May 21, 1966 in Aurora, IL), daughter Gina Hanson, son Rodney Hanson and sister Marilyn McIntosh all of Montgomery, IL. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 12:00 Noon to the funeral service at 2:00 PM at St Luke's Lutheran Church, 63 Fernwood Rd, Montgomery, IL. Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL. Memorials may be directed to either the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
