10:00 am - 1:00 pm (Central time)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Marie Gilmore, who left this world on May 15, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on December 24, 1951, in the vibrant town of Evergreen Park, Illinois, Gloria was a cherished daughter to the late John F. Gilmore and Felice N. Nauseda. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Gloria was a woman of remarkable strength and warmth, known for her infectious energy and her ability to light up any room. Her journey began in the bustling city of Chicago, where she was raised in a family that valued kindness and community. She carried these values into her own life, and cherished her family and friends deeply.
She pursued an education in fine art, and a career in nursing, earning her Bachelor's degree and dedicating her life to caring for others. Gloria began her storied career in the intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Chicago. Her dedication and expertise saw her transition into the emergency department at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL before transferring once more to pre-op triage work in the hospital's department of surgery, where she remained until her well-deserved retirement. Gloria's colleagues and patients remember her as a compassionate professional who brought comfort and healing to countless individuals.
Gloria's heart was vast and open, reflected in her love for animals and her passion for reading. She found solace and joy in the pages of books, finding and sharing her spark of joy within them. Her home was always host to furry companions, each one a testament to her nurturing spirit and unyielding love for all creatures. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Felice, and her dear husbands, Alexander Dewinski and Henry Bryant, with whom she shared many beautiful years. Her legacy continues through her devoted son, John Dewinski, and his wife, Stephanie, along with their precious son, Milo, whose arrival brought promise and hope to Gloria in her latter days. She is also survived by her loving stepchildren, Jennifer L. (Eric) Bryant, Joshua A. (Tamara) Bryant, and Matthew C. (Corine) Bryant, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Gloria leaves behind her cherished sister, Connie Morgan, and her husband Michael and their four children, who shared a lifetime of memories and sisterly bonds. Her family and friends will forever remember Gloria for her laughter, her wisdom, and the boundless love she gave to others. As we say goodbye to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate her life-a life filled with love, laughter, and endless compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gloria's name to a local animal shelter, a cause dear to her heart.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. For information: 630/554-3888 or www.dunnfuneralhome.com
