Gerald Thompson, 86, of Sheridan passed Monday April 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Gerald was born August 26, 1930 in Sheridan to Clarence & Jennie (Webb) Thompson. He married Janice Clark December 30, 1972 in Yorkville. He had worked as production manager for the CTS Knights Co. in Sandwich and the TRW Co. in Loveland, Co. manufacturing radio crystals. He was also the longtime owner of the GL (Jerry) Thompson Auction Service in Sheridan, a paint contractor, farm owner & manager. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Sandwich. He enjoyed buying & selling cars, motorcycle riding and training & riding horses. The pride & joy of his life was his large family. He is survived by his wife Janice of Sheridan; his eight children, Donna (Jeff) Cook of Alvin, IL. Diane (Bill) Hardecopf of Yorkville, Jim Thompson of Wilkesboro, NC. Cindy (Steve) Bair of Killeen, TX. John (Vicki) Thompson of Claire, IL. Chris (Glena) Thompson of Mendota, Curt (Julie) Thompson of Sandwich, Jennie (Jeff) Schupp of Sheridan; twenty-one grandchildren, Dan Foss, Chris (Heather) Foss, Nathan (Stacie) Ewing, Dhane Hardecopf, Lacey Hardecopf, Christopher Bair, Tiffani McClure, Tanya (Dave) Smith, Kristen (Alan) Richter, Jonathan Thompson, Allison (Matthew) Braski, Amanda Tenhagen, Brody (Kristen) Thompson, Chance Thompson, Dacey Thompson, Zane (Morgan) Thompson, Cami Thompson, Cassie Schupp, Katie Schupp, Kelsie Schupp, Tyler Schupp; eleven great grandchildren, Stella Ewing, Cleighden Rehor, Addison Smith, Elsie Smith, Ava Richter, Zoey Richter, Elena Thompson, Harrison Braski, Desera Schiller, Tyson Thompson and Tobias Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Walter Thompson; a grandson, Clayton; son in-laws, Richard Ewing, Dennis Foss and grandson in-law, John Meir. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Sheridan.
