Obituary was lovingly written by his family

Gerald Allen Sternberg was born in Aurora, IL on February 16, 1948, to Father Frederick Sternberg and Mother Mildred (Schiller) Sternberg.

Gerald attended primary school at St. Nicholas school, high school at Roncolli before graduating at East Aurora High School. He obtained an associate degree from Waubonsee Community College. He honored his country by serving in the Army as an air traffic control officer in Vietnam. He enjoyed a career in Sales that allowed him to travel the country.

Gerald was a loving husband to his wife Renee of 53 years. They enjoyed riding their bicycles, attending art shows and walking downtown Oswego with their dog, Mitzy. He was father to his beloved daughter Jennifer. Since the day she was born, he embodied the role of her father seamlessly becoming the definition of love and support every child should experience.

Gerald is survived by his wife Renee, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Todd, siblings Mary (Gary) Williams, Carl (Terrie) Sternberg, Lynn Henrikson, Roy (Pam) Sternberg, Valery (Jim) Weekley, Alyson (Darrell) Luck, sister-in-law Holly (Bill) Byland and numerous nieces and nephews. He always enjoyed getting the family children fun gifts for holidays their parents may or may not have approved of. He is preceded in death by parents Frederick and Mildred Sternberg and great-grandparents Frank and Catherine Wermes.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army at 6:45 P.M. at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 S.
