George M Hollenback, Jr., age 81, of Millbrook, IL, formerly of Chillicothe, IL, died Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

He was born October 4, 1941, in Sandwich, IL to George M. and Sarah (Sally) nee Severtson Hollenback, Sr., and married Janet L. Bradburn on December 17, 1966.

George taught for many years in District 150 schools in Peoria, IL, primarily junior high math and physical education, as well as drivers' education at Manual High School. In his second career he drove buses with Peoria Charter Coach. In retirement, George's happiness came from watching old Western TV shows and movies, watching sports (in particular the University of Illinois) and, most importantly, sitting in front of his cabin telling stories with family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife.

Surviving family includes three children, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three siblings, and twelve nieces and nephews: daughter Julie (Craig) and their sons Brian and Adam Zilles; son George (Anne) Hollenback, III; son James (Shelli) Hollenback, their daughter Kelsie (Kenny) and granddaughter Juniper Robson; sister Billie (Ron) Wales, brother Dave (Candis Larson) Hollenback, and sister Pat (Bob) Furr.

Visitation will take place on Friday, October 21, 2022, from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the GABEL-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, LTD, 102 S Johnson St, Newark, IL.

Interment will take place at the Millington-Newark Cemetery in Newark, IL.
