George
Hettrich
July 18, 1931 – December 29, 2022
George C. Hettrich, age 91, passed away on December 29, 2022.
The youngest of three boys, he was born to Katherine and Royal Hettrich in Aurora, IL. George was a kind, compassionate, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His life was filled with friends and family for whom he cared deeply and who cared deeply for him.
He is survived by Elaine, his wife of 66 years, daughters Shirley Klupchak (Bill) and Joyce Kafer (Jim), five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gordon and Laird. George graduated as the salutatorian of the Oswego High School Class of 1949 and the Chicago Board of Trade Grain and Marketing program. He and his brother Laird were lifelong Kendall County farmers - he always said driving a tractor was his golf game. A strong sense of civic duty led him to serve on the Kendall County Board for 8 years and for over 30 years in a variety of positions within Oswego Township: Trustee, Supervisor and Clerk. He was previously an Oswego Park District Commissioner and also served a term on the Oswego Public Library District Board. George loved to travel; he and Elaine enjoyed trips to over 50 countries and adventures on all 7 continents. A proud and loving grandfather, he was a frequent spectator at their athletic contests and activities. He and Elaine were long time members of the Oswego Presbyterian Church.
