George William Curry III of Oswego, Illinois was escorted into glory by his holy angel on March 18, 2021 from our home to his eternal heavenly home. He was born on July 16, 1939 in Somerset, Kentucky. His parents were George William Curry, Jr and Alice Neel Curry. He grew up on a farm in Waverly, KY and understood the value of one small seed -- the planting, the watering, the cultivating would one day bring big spiritual dividends to the lives of those that he would touch. He was ordained in 1978 and became known as Pastor George to many over the last 42 years. He faithfully served our God for 28 years at Bethesda Baptist Church and Schools in Brownsburg, Indiana as an associate pastor in Business and Management. He began the Follow Up and Discipleship Ministry there and worked with many new believers. He also served as director of the Singles ministry for 25 years, reaching out to the community through the care programs of Divorce Recovery, Kids In Crisis, Grief Support and Sunday School. When he and Tonda moved to Oswego, he served as Care Pastor at Harvest New Beginnings for 5 years and taught the Primetimer's Sunday Class to the very end of his life. His motto was always "to see people saved, discipled and put into service." Before his call into ministry, George was a civil engineer. He also served our country for 9 years in the Indiana National Guard, and was chairman of the board of the Baptist Children's Home for many of the 25 years there. He served our God well to the very end. George is survived by his wife, Tonda Curry, his two children, Carla Curry Poling (Scott), and Bill Curry (Marcie). Eight grandchildren: Grason Poling, Weston Poling, Dawson Poling, Rayna Poling, Brynna Poling King (Scott), Quinn Curry, Avery Curry and Addison Curry. Two Great Grandchildren: Zion William King, Wilder Scott King; his sister, Alice Rhea Curry Milborn, niece Lisa Crooks, and nephews: Jeff Singer, Mark Singer (Lori), Brett Singer. He was preceded in death by his father, George William Curry Jr., his mother, Alice Neel Curry, and a son, David William Curry, who was miscarried 1969. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harvest New Beginnings, 5315 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. Additional visitation will be on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 9:00 AM until a funeral service at 11:00 AM at church. Burial will take place on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield, KY. Arrangements are entrusted to DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S.
