George Gerald Ashleman, age 89, of Oswego, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
He was born June 12, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the son of George Adrian and Naomi Suzanne nee Trudell Ashleman.
George proudly served his county in the National Guard. After his honorable discharge from service, He enrolled in DeVry University where he graduated valedictorian in 1960. He worked as a computer engineer for Bell Labs. He was a man who loved to work on various projects and computers and could fix anything mechanical or electrical. In his spare time, George operated his HAM radio, collecting minerals, making jewelry, and photography (even developing his own photos). He enjoyed playing classical guitar and violin and loved to listen to classical and Big Band music. He also enjoyed drawing and painting taking after his artist grandfather.
He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL.
He is survived by his children George Robert Ashleman, James Michael Ashleman, Dannie Eugene Ashleman, Howard Adrian (Amy) Ashleman, Teresa Rose Ashleman, 16 grandchildren Liz Marie, Daniel, Nathan, Samuel, Allison, Amy, Amber, Howard, Jr., Joseph, David, Autumn, Brian, Paul, John, Patricia, Tim, Peter, 8 great-grandchildren, Mia, Ranson, Meredith, Bella, Axel, Joseph, Jr., Charlotte and Dahliah.
He was preceded in death by two sets of parents, George Adrian and Helen Ashleman and Carl and Naomi Suzanne Klopp, wife Rose Marie nee Cochran Ashleman, daughters Patricia Ann Ashleman and Donna Marie Ashleman, son John Thomas Ashleman, daughters-in law Ellen Ashleman and Sharon Ashleman and a son-in-law James Francis Mulvey, III.
Burial of the urn in Abner Cemetery in Nason, IL, will take place at a future date.
