Gary W. Murphy, Sr., age 78, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, with his family by his side.

Gary was born in Tennessee, and when he was a young child, his family moved to the Chicagoland area. It was there, during elementary school, that Gary met the love of his life, Regina (Reggie), when their families became neighbors.

Gary and Reggie were raised with very little and faced many challenges throughout their lives. Together, through hard work, determination, and unwavering love for one another, they built a beautiful family and a successful business. Gary took great pride in the success of Anytime Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., a business he and his family built together and that has remained family-owned and operated for more than 50 years. The company became a lasting part of the legacy Gary created through his dedication, hard work, and commitment to his family.

When Gary wasn't working, he enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, playing softball, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his hard work, devotion to his family, and the life he and Reggie built together.

Gary is survived by his sons, Gary (Rebecca) Murphy and Mike (Denise) Murphy; grandchildren, Michael Szwacki, Sharelle (Jeff) Hammers, Jacob Murphy, and Cody (Amanda) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Ayden and Dean Hammers and Edward Murphy; his brother, Ron Murphy; brother-in-law, Bert Thomas; sisters-in-law, Terri Patti and Cindy Rose; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Regina Murphy; his parents, Chester Murphy and Sue Thomas; his brothers, Robert and Thomas Murphy; and his sister-in-law, Maureen Robertson.

Gary's life was defined by love, perseverance, family, and friendship. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
