Arnold Rudolph Friedrich, 89, of Apopka, Florida formerly of Sheridan, Illinois passed to rest after a lengthy illness Friday, August 22, 2014 at Atria Evergreen Woods Assisted Living in Spring Hill Florida. Arnold was born of German parents September 11, 1924 in Carupa, Brazil. He was the youngest of six children, three sisters and two brothers, now all deceased. After attending college in San Paulo, Brazil he received a degree in business then came to the United States to study theology at Emmanuel Missionary College in 1947 (Andrews University). There he also met his future wife, June Johansen and after their marriage on December 22, 1949 in Hinsdale, IL., they moved to Massachusetts where he started his service as a pastor for the Southern New England Conference. He served the next 37 years as pastor-evangelist for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Washington State, Nevada, Illinois, North Carolina and Florida. He retired in 1987 to care for his wife who passed away April 29, 1990. He then moved back to Sheridan from North Carolina. He loved the Lord and was passionate to share Jesus with everyone. He taught and preached from the Bible prophecies so that others would accept Jesus and be ready for His coming. He wanted to be alive to see Jesus in the clouds but was called to early rest. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy (John) Sabo of Spring Hill, Florida, Tamara (Jim) Estrada) of Sherwood, Oregon; two sons, Roland Friedrich of Deerfield, Illinois, Wil (Barb) Friedrich of Apopka, Florida; five grandchildren, Jonathan Sabo of Harrison, Tennessee, Tanya Sabo of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lisette Rothing of Chicago, Brittany Friedrich of Orlando, Florida, Alec Friedrich of Orlando; one great grandson, Tanner Sabo of Harrison, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews in Brazil. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, three sisters and two brothers. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28th with Pastor Mike Weakley officiating at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home in Sheridan. The family will greet mourners 1 hour before the service time. Interment will be at the Sheridan Cemetery.
