Friedrich "Fritz" Weingartner Jr, 76, Oswego, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 surrounded by the love of family.
Fritz was born June 15, 1942 the son of the late Friedrich Weingartner and Loise (nee Ruff) in Poland while his German family was fleeing the destruction of World War II. He was the ninth of ten siblings. He came to America in 1952 with same hopes of any immigrant: to live the American dream.
He graduated from Washburne Trade School in Chicago with the class of 1960. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1964-1967, In May 1967, he married Edelgard "Edie" (Pfingst) Weingartner. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage, raising their two daughters in Villa Park. He worked at W.H. Salisbury for nearly 49 years, progressing through the organization until he retired as plant manager.
Fritz is survived by his wife Edie, two daughters: Elizabeth (Jay) Greifenkamp, Aurora, and Anita (C. David) Smagor, Yorkville, four wonderful grandchildren: Kayla, Sydney and Jonah Greifenkamp and Annaliese Smagor; a sister, Lilli Ambrosat, a brother Traugott Weingartner, also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 3:30 to 7:30 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St Luke's Lutheran Church, 63 Fernwood Road Montgomery, IL. Cremation will take place at American Crematory.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St Luke's Lutheran Church.
