Evelyn nee Thanepohn Strothman passed away on January 20, 2026, at Cedarhurst of Yorkville, at the age of 95. She was born on a farm in Bristol, Illinois on November 18, 1930, to Harvey and Elsie (Leifheit) Thanepohn. She graduated from Yorkville High School in 1948.

She was united in marriage on August 16, 1958, to Frank (Bud) Strothman. They were married for 62 years.

Evelyn was a stay-at-home mom while her children were in school. Later she was employed by J/B Industries in Aurora, IL until her retirement in 1992.

She enjoyed travel, music, and card games, especially Euchre. She was an avid golfer and played often with family and friends.

After retirement, Evelyn and her husband spent the winter months in Orange Beach, Alabama and San Diego, California where they played golf, walked the beach, and enjoyed the warmer weather.

Throughout her life Evelyn loved all her 4-legged friends and knows they will be waiting for her at "The Rainbow Bridge." Most of all she loved her family very much and all the times she got to spend with them.

Evelyn was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL. For many years she was a member of Edgebrook C.C. in Sandwich, IL.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Bud" Strothman; parents, Harvey and Elsie Thanepohn, brother Robert Thanepohn, and sister-in-law, Kathleen Thanepohn.

She is survived by three children: daughter, Kim (Greg) Gough of Aurora, IL, and sons, Steve (Sandra) Strothman of Fredonia, NY, and Dave (Nancy) Strothman of Millington, IL; nine grandchildren: Stephanie (Jon) Meyn of Cortland, IL, Kristin (Eric) Taft of Steward, IL, Kelly (William) Clevenger of Woodstock, IL, Matthew Gough of Chicago, IL, Luke (Ashley) Strothman of Yorkville, IL, Kaleb (Taylor) Strothman of New Glarus, WI, Kylie (Jake) Brewick of Marseilles, IL, Christopher (Jessie) Strothman of Superior, CO, and Laura Strothman of Fredonia, NY; sixteen great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Gough, Dominic Gough, Taryn Clevenger, Matthew Clevenger, Chloey Clevenger, Colton Clevenger, Zachary Meyn, Clayton Taft, Jaxon Taft, Ruby Taft, Kamron Brewick, Mackenzie Brewick, Elliana Strothman, Elsie Strothman, Audun Strothman, and Ember Strothman

A Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 12:00 NOON to 4:00 P.M. at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 S. Douglas Road Oswego, IL 60543. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 26, 2025, 10:00 A.M. until time of service 11:00 A.M. at Cross Lutheran Church 8609 IL 47 Yorkville, Il 60560. Interment will follow Cross Lutheran Cemetery.
