Eugene "Gene" A. Sass, Jr, 47 years, of Oswego, IL died Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. He was born March 7, 1970 in Chicago, IL. He was employed as a Manager of Skype Communications and Lync Solutions at Avanade, Inc in Chicago. He enjoyed being outdoors surrounded by nature and was environmentally conscious to the point of making a resolution to stop using any unnecessary plastics such as water bottles or plastic straws. He loved to go camping,boating and hiking any time possible. He went for numerous walks, runs, and bike rides in the local forest preserves and on the trails in the surrounding towns. His favorite location was SawWeeKee Park in Oswego where he walked, biked, and ran the challenging trails. He was an avid runner who competed in many races from 5Ks up through marathons. He was very proud of completing the Fox Valley Marathon and the Chicago Marathon. He was also an avid Chicago sports fan with the Chicago Cubs being his favorite team.  Gene was also an active member of the community volunteering locally with Prairie Fest, getting involved with politics and supporting his daughters in school. He served a term as President of the Thompson Jr. High Home and School Association and attended countless sporting events, plays and art shows. His sincere compassion for his family and friends extended to his many beloved pets. He had a "can do" attitude with an overall positive outlook on life. Gene was a man of faith who looked to God for guidance and wisdom as he prayed several times a day. He truly dedicated his life to leaving things better than the way he found them. He loved his home, his family, his life. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and friend. Survivors include his wife, Michelle L nee Isaacson, two daughters Taylor and Allison, his mother Laurie (Scott) Stackhouse, his father Eugene (Sandra) Sass and numerous relatives, dear friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his dearly beloved sister Christine "Chrissy" Sass. Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Geoff Mitchell of Big Life Community Church on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM followed by visitation until 6:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Cremation will take place at American Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials will go toward purchasing a memorial bench and tree to be placed at SawWeeKee Park, located in Oswego. Memorials may be made out to Eugene Sass Memorial Account and send to First National Bank 109 W. Veterans Parkway, Yorkville, IL  60560. In keeping with Gene Sass style, the family requests that everyone comes dressed comfortably and preferable in Chicago Cubs attire or perhaps Cubbie blue if you happen to root for another team.
