Eloise Ann Mathre, 91, of rural Newark passed Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Morris Hospital. Eloise was born March 27, 1925 in Northville Twp. LaSalle Co. to Ernest William & Sadie J. (Gravley) Brown. She married Sherman Earl Mathre November 27, 1947 at the Plano United Methodist Church. Sherman passed August 16, 2010. She was a member of the Helmar Lutheran Church and besides helping Sherman on the farm, she loved her gardening, sewing, cooking and caring for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Brian) Homerding of Minooka; two sons, Mark (Marge) Mathre of Newark, Tom (Linda) Mathre of Newark; six grandchildren, Michael (Nicole) Homerding, Stephanie Homerding, Jeff (Katie) Homerding, Tom Mathre Jr., Jennifer (Andrew) Bromeland, Melissa (Jonathon) Hageman; nine great grandchildren, Jacob, Max, Grace, Jack, Haley Homerding, Kate, Ella, Lilly Bromeland, Liam Hageman and a tenth great grandchild on the way; a sister Nancy (Glenn) Green of Danville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman; a granddaughter, Jessica Mathre; four sisters, Julia (Robert) Brown-Davis, Eleanor (Robert) Brown-Gengler, Mildred (Edolph) Brown-Thompson and Doris (Louis) Brown-Akre. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3rd at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. 102 S. Johnson St. Newark, IL. 60541-0623, phone 815-695-5131. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 Wednesday at the Helmar Lutheran Church with Pastor Jon Langness officiating. Interment will be at the Helmar Cemetery.
