Elizabeth Ellen "Betty" Hopkins, age 79, of Oswego, IL died Monday, December 29, 2014 at Presnece Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL after a long illness and is now in the thoughts and prayers of her loved ones. She was born June 29, 1935 in Webster Groves, MO the daughter of the late Howard and Martha nee Tenny Walkup. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Earl N Hopkins, her enjoyment over the years included swimming, gardening and traveling. Her humor will be remembered by her family and friends. She is also survived by her six children Stephanie Russell, Stephen (Julie) Hopkins, Patrick (Rhonda) Hopkins, Elizabeth Rose, Kathleen (Christopher) Arias and Jennifer Hopkins. She had a special grandson who preceded her in death, Matthew Miller, whom she talked to every day after his death. Matthew died in the service of his country. He was a S/Sgt in the US Army. He had severed tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. She is also survived by her sister Faye Parr and brother Richard Walkup. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rachael Crozier, Denice Thiessen, Earl Hopkins, Stephen Hopkins, Edward Hopkins, Charles Hopkins, Sara Hopkins, Lisa Hopkins, Harry Hopkins, Roxy Hopkins, Tim Arias, Emily Arias, Vincente Arias and many great grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL.
