Elbert H "Bert" Nease, age 92, of Oswego, IL passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Cedarhurst of Yorkville, IL.

He was born August 10, 1930, in Willow Springs, MO the son of the late Elbert and Gertrude (Cox) Nease.

Mechanically gifted, he moved to Oswego, IL after graduating high school and serving in the US Navy. While working as an auto mechanic at a Chrysler dealer in Aurora, IL, he met his wife Donna (Morganegg), and they were married in 1953. He founded Nease Automotive in Oswego in 1968 and operated that business until he retired in 1989. He was also a volunteer for the Oswego Fire Department for 35 years. For over 60 years, he was active in the Church of the Good Shepherd in Oswego where he was a trustee, head usher, carillonneur and instrumental in remodeling the church building after he retired.

He was an avid Oswego High School basketball and football fan which earned him induction into both the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame and the local Ken Pickerill Hall of Fame as a fan. Bert was also a devoted St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed traveling to nearly every state (especially Hawaii) plus cruises to Norway, Alaska, and the Panama Canal.

Bert is survived by his wife of 70 years Donna (Morganegg) Nease, children Randall (Barbara) Nease, Scott (Romaine) Nease and Julia (Patrick) Sheeran, grandchildren Matthew (Nadia) Nease, Zachary (Priscilla McKay) Nease, Nichola (Jack Williams) Nease, Colin Nease, Michael Sheeran, Christopher Sheeran, and Brian (Lauren) Sheeran, six great grandchildren, two nephews Larry and Craig Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Jean (the late Jack) Jones and granddaughter Nicole Summers.

Visitation will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL. Visitation will be held also on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 9:30 A.M. until time of funeral service 10:00 A.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 5 W. Washington St, Oswego, IL. Interment will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
