Edwin "Oy" Aister passed away at 9:15 a.m. on March 1, 2021 at his home in Yorkville, IL. He was born on March 30, 1941, in Aurora, IL the son of the late Edwin and Florence nee DeKing Aister. He grew up on Pigeon Hill on the northeast side of town within walking distance of 35 cousins and 14 aunts and uncles under close family guidance. He graduated from St. Joseph Grade School, Marmion Military Academy class of '59, and Northern Illinois University. Before receiving his degree, Ed worked in numerous types of jobs including grocery stock boy, two local factories, encyclopedia salesman in California, truck driver for State of Illinois, drilling water wells, school teacher, football coach- grade and high school, TV personality on Billy Wyatt's Sports Challenge with sidekick "Harry the Hat" Childress. Upon getting his degree Ed started in sales of construction material and then became involved in a home construction business for 50 years. He started Xanadu Homes and built homes in Naperville and the Fox Valley area until he retired in 2003. Ed started playing football in fifth grade and played one year in college, he coached five years and was a member of the GOBF- good old boys football league. His fantasy league has renamed the league after Oy's team name- O.M.S. (onemanshow) with the trophy now being named the "Oy" cup. Ed loved playing poker at an early age and played with the same group for 30 years. He was proud of the fact that he played in the World Series of Poker twice in Las Vegas. Ed and his wife Diane traveled extensively and managed to visit every state. Ed and Diane were members of the Meal of the Month Club with friends and a football group that went to Green Lake yearly. Ed was a lifelong member of the Wildrose Social Club. He enjoyed Spring trips, especially the 20 cruises in the Caribbean. Through these past years his care by his sister was greatly appreciated as was the friendship and help of classmate and friend, Larry Mallon. Survivors include his loving sister who took care of him, Patti (Dick) Buckley, of Bristol, IL; his three nephews- Brad (Michelle) Buckley of Ruskin, FL; Kevin Buckley of Yorkville, IL; and Jared (Sarah) Buckley of Monmouth, IL; Great-nephews Brayden Gallimore of Ruskin, FL and Lucas Buckley of Monmouth, IL; Great-nieces Chelsey Buckley of Everett, WA and Grace Buckley of Monmouth, IL; and his first wife, Pamela Aister of Fountain Hills, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane (Maxim) Aister, his daughter, Michelle Aister, and his parents, Edwin and Florence nee DeKing Aister. A memorial service will take place on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 3:00 -7:00 P.M. at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Rd. Oswego, IL 60543.
