Edward King "Eddie" Roberson born July 13, 1962 passed away peacefully on April 30, 2021 with his wife by his side. Eddie spent his childhood and much of his adult life in Wheaton, IL. Where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was raised in a tight-knit, loving community comprised mainly of his extended family. He often reminisced fondly about his childhood and his delight about growing up surrounded by all of his aunts, uncles and cousins. Growing up in this environment set the foundation for the importance of family in his life. He attended Wheaton Central High School and participated in many sports, including baseball, basketball and football. He excelled at football, becoming a star fullback for the Tigers. There he formed friendships that would last his lifetime. After high school, Eddie met the love of his life, Meg. They married in 1987 and were inseparable for over 33 years. Together they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Eddie felt at home in the outdoors, spending many hours fishing and bird-watching. He looked forward to playing cards each week and filled those evenings with laughter and unforgettable memories for all who were involved. You would always find Eddie on the fringe of a party, engaging in a one-on-one conversation. He cherished getting to know you deeply. It was important to him to find out what made you happy and he would go out of his way to find ways to connect with you. Eddie was a fixture in the audience or on the sidelines of any niece's or nephew's event, whether it was a band concert, music recital, play production, or sporting event. He was always there, rain or shine, sub-zero cold or sweltering heat, near or far. You could always count on him to be cheering loudly or clapping quietly, as the occasion warranted. There wasn't a bigger fan or more dedicated supporter. Sadly, Eddie did not get the chance to live a long life. However, if our lives are measured by the people that we impact, then Eddie lived a long, fulfilling life. Everyone Eddie came in to contact with became an instant friend. He left a lasting impression on all those he met. He was kind, generous, thoughtful, fun, humble and devoted. He lived his life according to God's Commandments (1 John 3:18-24), loving others as he loved himself. He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret "Meg" Roberson (Sohst), his loving mother Shirley (Bruce) Menkveld (Robinson), brother Jeffrey (Stacey) Roberson, sister Mika (James) Watson, many sisters and brothers -in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward and his grandparents Evelyn and Claude Robinson and John and Willie Lee Roberson. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL. 60543.
