Doug Tackitt, age 59, of Kokomo, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020. He was a 1978 graduate of West Aurora High School. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1982 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and was awarded the Bronze Tablet award for outstanding performance. After graduation, Doug began working as an engineer with Delphi Electronics in Kokomo with over 35 years with the company. Doug loved all outdoor sports and loved to participate in anything he deemed "extreme", such as windsurfing, rock climbing, bungee jumping, white water rafting and much more. He loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews, trying to teach them his love for the thrills of life. He also had numerous friends he loved to spend time with. Doug is survived by his parents; Lester and Mary Tackitt of Ingraham, IL, three sisters ; Janie (Drew) Simpson, Sandy (Mike Platt) Tackitt, Kathy (Darrel Smith) Johnson, two brother Dave (Beckie) Tackitt, Darrin (Kelly) Tackitt, seven nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews, and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his close friends that became his Kokomo family and the extensive network of friends he made in Aurora and beyond. Doug is loved by all and will be greatly missed.
