Obituary lovingly written by her family

Donna Arlynne (Leitch) Schmidt passed away March 15, 2023, in the comfort of her home. Donna was born February 10, 1946, to Harry and Sylvia Leitch of Maywood, Illinois. She married Ken Schmidt on June 19, 1981, and they lived in Aurora. She graduated from Proviso East High School in 1964. She had a long career at ComEd (formerly Commonwealth Edison), from 1966 to 2001, ending her service of 35 years as a General Service Representative.

Donna is survived by her sister, Nancy Hink (of Eleva, WI); a daughter Jessica and her husband Jason (of Aurora); and two grandchildren, Isabella and Ryan.

Donna loved her two grandchildren and enjoyed after school trips to parks, local shops, and coffee dates. Donna and Izzy would have frequent sleepovers and enjoy late night snacks and tv shows. On Saturdays, they could be found at local farmer's markets. She would do whatever she could to ensure their happiness. The family would like to thank her caregivers Bernie Peralta and Olayemi Olaniyi for the special loving care given to her at her home in Aurora.

As sad as we all are, we are sure Donna would agree with one thing, "Don't waste your time grieving for me. Do an act of kindness for someone in memory of me." Per her wishes, services will be private.
