Donald R "Red" McGuire, age 92 of Oswego, IL died peacefully at home on his farm with his loving family at his side on Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was born April 13, 1931 in Aurora, IL the son of the late Donald W and Hazel (Lentz) McGuire. Married for 53 years to the love of his life, the late Lillian (Probst) McGuire. Red always said he got a "good deal" for the $3.00 marriage license.

Red attended grade school at Nancy Hill in Aurora where he would meet his best friends of 60 years, Jim and Hal Lieser. Red spent his high school years at Marmion Military Academy then transferred to West Aurora High School to play football, graduating in 1949. Red enjoyed the old football rivalry of East vs. West Aurora. After high school, Red attended the University of Tennessee for two years before deciding on his lifelong career in construction as a Union Carpenter. Knowing Red also had a dream to become a farmer like himself, Jim told Red about a farm becoming available just down the road. In 1969, "new" farmer Red and his family moved to Oswego spending many happy years farming alongside wonderful friends and neighbors. Rural America at its best.

Red was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego IL and the Kendall County Farm Bureau.

Red is survived by his two daughters, Terri and Mary McGuire, cousins Shirley Cooper, Rick Johnson, Sr. Colette Barker, Sue Nies, Sally Morrison, Mary Jo McNamara, and many terrific nieces and nephews from Lil's side of the family who loved their Uncle Red.

Visitation will take place on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL. Private Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
