Donald Joseph Hamman, 75, of Plano passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 26, 2015. He was born on May 23, 1939 in Aurora, IL. He was the eldest child of Joseph and Mary Ann Hamman. He attended Saint Therese school through eighth grade and graduated from Naperville Central High School. He married the love of his life, Carol (Lorang) Hamman on April 8, 1961. Before his marriage, Don worked at CB&Q Railroad in Aurora, IL. Don was an entrepreneur in agriculture, real estate, land development, mining and construction. Don owned and operated Fox Ridge Stone in Oswego, IL. He was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Plano. He was also a contributing supporter of the Kendall County 4H and FFA. Don had a strong, hardworking ethic in everything he pursued. Don lived life to the fullest. His many hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, farm auctions and spending time with his family. His perfect day was spending time in the tractor, Sunday afternoon drives in the country with Carol, and sharing his wealth of farming knowledge with his children and grandchildren. As he would say, "Driving the tractor is my golf game!" He also loved spending time with his family and friends at their Wisconsin lake house. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, and brother. He was always dedicated to his family, friends, and faith. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Lorang) Hamman. He is also survived by his three sons Joe (Marcy) of Plano, Dave (Signe Bolton) of Newark and Jim (Laura) of Oswego. Don is survived by his nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Allyson), Josh (Tamara), Cassidy, Trevor, Gene, Logan, Dillon, Mitchell and Jada. Don is also survived by his great grandchildren, Layla and Mackenzie. Don is survived by his sister Joyce (Jim) Frankino and his brother Bob (Jeanne) Hamman. Don is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Ann Hamman, his infant son and daughter, Patrick Donald and Mary Margaret, and his sister Donna (Ron) Muehlfelt. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY , 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL. A liturgical wake service will be held at the funeral home at 5:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from the funeral home at 9:15 AM, to Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 901 North Center Street, Plano, IL for a 10:00 AM funeral mass. Burial will follow at Risen Lord Cemetery, 1501 Simons Road, Oswego, IL. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the Kendall County Food Pantry, 208 Beaver Street, Yorkville, IL, 60560.
