Dennis Martin Gross was born in Joliet, IL on July 1, 1941, the first son of Martin Anton and Evelyn Marie Gross of Coal City, IL.
He died at Health Mercy Medical Center in Aurora on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Dennis was a lifelong and highly valued employee of the United States Postal Service from an early age. During his career with the USPS, he held numerous positions in various locations across the country. After retiring he returned to work as a contractor for several years.
He served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged.
Dennis loved his family and showered them with love and attention. Often, he would send heartfelt gifts for Christmas and birthdays. He was quick to organize family gatherings such as eating out together at a local favorite spot. This is an especially dear memory of his nephews and nieces. He enjoyed feeding the birds and growing vegetables in his urban garden. A favorite pastime for Dennis was fishing in Florida or on Lake Shasta in California where he took his terminally ill Father before he passed.
Dennis was married to the love of his life Marian, for 42 years. He adored her and cherished the time they shared together. He is survived by, and loved as his own, her children Richard and Patricia, by her deceased husband Fred Mosher. Both had families and given him grandchildren Bill, Michael, Jennifer, Arthur, Alex and Adalyn. Great grandchildren, Gregory, Elizabeth, Charles, Elizabeth, and Diana.
Dennis is also survived by his youngest brother Richard Dale, and his sister Linda Lou. Nephews Richard, Christopher, Sean, Brian, Rodney, Marvin and John. Nieces Ruth, Lindsey Erin, Mackenzie, Lawanda, and Susan. Many great nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marian, his parents Martin and Evelyn, and his brother Daryle.
Graveside prayer service and burial will be Tuesday, April 27th at 10: 45a.m.CST at Montrose Cemetery 5400 North Pulaski Rd, Chicago IL Lot 153, Section 14.
