Deborah Ann Kulbartz (nee Knuth), 73, of Sandwich, formerly of Oswego, passed away at home on March 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Debbie was born on January 14, 1949, in Chicago, IL. She was the fourth of nine children born to the late William Knuth and the late Margaret Knuth (nee Holtfoerster). Debbie graduated in 1963 from St. Nicholas Grade School in Aurora, IL. Debbie was a member of the Oswego High School Class of 1967. On February 7, 1970, Debbie was united in Holy Matrimony to Paul Kulbartz at St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL. She was a long-time 4th grade catechist at St. Anne as well as a high school youth group Godparent alongside her husband. Debbie was a quilting enthusiast and blessed many family members, friends and strangers with her homemade quilts including, most recently, donating quilts to a women's shelter in Dekalb and the Kentucky tornado relief. She was a youth soccer coach for 10 years in Oswego. She was also an avid Bunco player and a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Debbie is survived by her husband, Paul; her children Christopher Kulbartz, Benjamin (Marci) Kulbartz, Jeremy (Dee) Kulbartz, Nicholas (Nicole) Kulbartz, Virginia Kulbartz (Matt Matthews); her grandchildren Lucy Kulbartz, Harper Kulbartz, June Kulbartz, Benjamin Kulbartz, Kaitlyn Kulbartz, Ty Kulbartz, Emily Kulbartz, Cody Kulbartz, Dylan Kulbartz, Nora Kulbartz, Lexi Matthews, Reese Matthews; her brothers William (Doris) Knuth, Richard Knuth, Bernard Knuth, Martin (MaryEllen) Knuth, Philip (Amy) Knuth, Raymond Knuth; her sister Margaret (William) Blonn; her brother-in-law Tom Kulbartz; her sister-in-law Susan Kulbartz. Debbie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and first cousins. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gerard Knuth; her sister-in-law Laura Knuth (nee Clementz); and her sister-in-law Linda Kulbartz. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. with a service at 6 p.m. at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Debbie fought Primary Plasma Cell Leukemia, and one of her final wishes was for us all to do everything we could to find a cure. In her honor, please consider a donation, in lieu of flowers.
