David H. Zumwalt, Jr., age 77, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at his residence on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. He was born November 12, 1942 in Alton, IL the son of David H. and Mary nee Manghisi Zumwalt, Sr. David received a Certificate of Achievement award for outstanding performance of duties as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He worked most of his career for All-Steel in quality control until the final day the factory closed its' Aurora location. David retired after a decade of driving a school bus for District 308. He loved taking care of all the children on his route. He also had a passion for gardening, carpentry and his family. He was a wonderful cook and received many awards for his homemade chili. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia nee Haydicky Zumwalt, children Rita (Matt) Cyncar, David H. Zumwalt, III, Diane (Paul) Baron, Donald (Cassidy) Zumwalt, grandchildren Eve, Luke, Haven and Oliver and a sister Norma (Ron) Short. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gerald Lamer. A private family service has taken place.
