David W Young, age 59, of Ottawa, died on Friday, August 1, 2025, after a 15 month battle with lung cancer. He was born March 18, 1966, in Seattle, WA.

David served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force as a fire prevention specialist. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, IL.

He had been employed as a truck driver for Homefront Transport Inc of Wedron, IL prior to his passing. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, playing guitar, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters Mikaela (Justin) Gray, Hannah (Aldo) Rossi, granddaughter Viviana Rossi, parents Robert and Kathleen Young, and sister Lisa (Chris) Maahs. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Pamela (Riedl) Young.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 PM with funeral services to follow at the GABEL-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 333 W Church St, Sheridan, IL. Cremation will follow the service, and inurnment will take place later at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
