David A. Watgen, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born March 14, 1956 in Aurora, IL, the son of Jerald L. and Claire Watgen, née Ecklund.
Dave started at Fox River Foods at age 16 loading trucks. He soon after became a truck driver and ultimately retired after 44 years as a Vice President.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved family, especially attending his childrens' and grandchildrens' games and concerts. He spent his free time fishing, sport shooting, and snowmobiling in the Northwoods of Wisconsin; riding his motorcycle; and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his father Jerald; stepmother Dolores; his wife of 45 years, Karen, whom he loved since they met at age 15; his children, Jackie (Eric) Born; Andrew (Penny) Watgen; Julie Watgen; his grandchildren, Hunter and Gavin Born; Seth, Alexis, Lincoln, and Mia Watgen; brother Wayne "Butch" (Mary) Watgen; sister Diane Federman; lifelong best friend Frank Cosentino; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in law and sisters-in law, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 6:30 PM with a funeral service immediately following at Dunn Family Funeral Home, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
