David Michael Parr, Sr., age 72, of Montgomery, IL died Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Naperville, IL. He was born August 19, 1948 in Peoria, IL the son of the late Clarence and Phyllis nee Buck Parr. Dave served his country honorably with the US Navy as a hospital corpsman at Philadelphia Naval Hospital and at Camp Lejeune, NC. During history of duty with the Navy, a Naval Psychiatrist, along with Dave, established the first Drug Rehabilitation Program for Vietnam Veterans. He was employed at Caterpillar and then later at Mercy Center Hospital in security prior to his retirement. He was a member of St John Lutheran Church in Joliet, IL. He loved gardening, reading non-fiction history books, woodworking and traveling. His grandchildren and family always came first. Dave is survived by his wife Connie L nee Pierson Parr, a daughter Jennifer (Tim) Taylor, son David M (Kristin) Parr, Jr., grandchildren Michael Parr, Mackenzie Parr, Maegan Parr, sister Kathy (Mark) DeDecker, sister-in-law Paula (John) German, brother-in-law Randy Pierson, also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Laurie Henke and in-laws Robert and Phyllis Pierson. A gathering of family/friends will take place on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, during this time there will be a short prayer service, military honors will be rendered at 7:45 PM by the US Navy at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CEMATORY, 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL.
