It is with great sadness that the family of David Christopher Horner announce his unexpected passing, on Friday, January 26th, 2018, at the age of 66 years. Dave was born December 23, 1952 to William and Ardyce Horner (Gilna). He graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1971 and later became an automotive mechanic for the Illinois State Tollway. He retired a few years prior to his passing. Dave had an infectious smile and a story or two to share (whether you'd heard them already or not) with everyone he met. If friendships equated to wealth, he was an incredibly wealthy man.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his children, Becca (Ryan) Capshaw and Chris Horner and his two grandchildren, Gavin and Grayson, with whom he spent many of his retired "buncher" days. He is also survived by his three brothers: W. Burke (Shelly) Horner, Jim (Pam) Horner, Bob (Judy) Horner, step-brother Roy Mons, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his step brother Rick Mons, and his sister in law Susan Horner.
A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, February 10th from 1:00 until 4:00 pm with memorial services immediately to follow at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. He loved his rescue pup Charlie, who colored his life with shenanigans and many a shared sandwich. Memorial contributions may be made to Rover Rescue of Illinois.
