With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable man whose life was a testament to hard work, wisdom, and love. David was a man of strength and integrity, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. Born with a tireless work ethic and a heart of gold, David approached every endeavor with passion and dedication. His wisdom was unmatched, earned through a lifetime of experiences and lessons learned. He had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life, finding comfort in fishing trips and adventurous travels. A lover of nature, David found joy in watching birds and animals, delighting loved ones with captivating stories about their names and behaviors. His time serving in the army, stationed in South Korea, left a lasting mark on his life, shaping his culinary tastes and nurturing a strong love for quality foods. David was a skilled craftsman, not only building his own home but also creating a life filled with love and opportunities for his children. His devotion to his beloved wife, Roseann, spanning over 57 years, was a testament to the enduring power of true love. Throughout his career as a locksmith, David had the honor of meeting US presidents and other iconic figures, his friendly nature making him a friend to all. He cherished meaningful conversations, valuing intelligence and genuine connections above all else. In the hearts of those who knew him, David will forever be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his unwavering kindness, and his genuine spirit. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he created. Rest in peace, dear David, knowing that your legacy of love and laughter will endure for generations to come.
David T Donnelly Sr, joining Roseann, the love of his life in eternity on February 24th, 2024. David was born July 2, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Son of the late Edward and Helen Donnelly and younger brother of the late Joan Grieg.
He is survived by his children; Shari [Thomas] Keller of Granger, Indiana, the late Katherine Donnelly, David [Flora] Donnelly of Oswego, Illinois and Debra Donnelly of Chicago, Illinois.
David is survived by his 5 grandchildren. Mykaela Donnelly of Rockford, IL, Sarah Donnelly of Chicago, IL, Caden Keller of Granger, IN, Logan Donnelly of Oswego, IL and Devyn Keller of Granger, IN. David is also survived by his first great grandchild Messiah Donnelly of Rockford, IL.
A visitation for David will be held Monday, March 4, 2024, from 9:30 A.M. until time of service 11:30 A.M. at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S Douglas Rd, Oswego, IL 60543.
Private family burial to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers the family asks a donation to be made in David and Roseann's honor with the American Cancer Society.
