Darrell Michael Moore, 66 of Oswego, Illinois passed away at his home on February 6, 2015 after his battle with lung cancer. Darrell was born on June 28, 1948 in Aurora to Darrell and Naomi (Baumann) Moore. He was a graduate of East Aurora High School Class of 1966. Darrell was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Brenda Whisenant, March 15, 1969.
He worked for Caterpillar for 32 years, retiring in 2001.
Darrell enjoyed anything that could be done in his garage including woodworking projects and working on his 1957 Chevy Bel Air. As a 27-year resident of Plano, he could often be seen driving his classic car with the windows rolled down taking in the fresh air. Darrell was an auto enthusiast and spent many summer weekends appreciating the sights at local car shows. He could strike up a conversation with a stranger and talk to them like they had been friends for years.
He was an active member of the East Aurora Class of '66 Reunion Committee and looked forward to getting together with classmates to talk and reminisce about the good old days. He remained good friends with many of his classmates up until his passing.
A trait known by all of his family and friends, Darrell had an impeccable memory and an uncanny ability to recall dates, facts and figures from days long gone by.
He could never pass up an animal or stranger in need. He acted as a Good Samaritan many times over the years using his 1979 Ford Bronco to pull stranded motorists out of snowy ditches.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda. His children Natalie (Carson) Booras and Nathan (Renata) Moore, and his granddaughters Camille and Brynn Booras.
He is preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Naomi Moore and his sister, Kristie.
