James H Colwell, age 80, of Oswego, IL died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born September 9, 1933 in Aurora, IL the son of the late John F and Anna M nee Bowman Colwell. James served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict with the US Army serving two tours of duty in Korea. He was a member of St Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL, the S.A.S., The Blue Army, Knight of Columbus Council #7247 and the Montgomery Memorial VFW Post 7452. Prior to his retirement in 1994 he was employed for 30 years in the maintenance department of the West Aurora School Dist #129. James is survived by his wife Barbara J nee VanParys (Whom he married on September 10, 1959 in Waukegan, IL) his children Debbie (Dave) Edman of Oakdale, MN, Diane (Harold) Snyder, Tom (Sheryl) Colwell, Mary (Ron) LaDew all of Montgomery, IL, Joe Colwell of Oswego, IL; grandchildren Perry, Brian and Jackie Edman; Jacob, Nathan, Ben and T.J. Colwell; Amanda, Kelly and Anthony LaDew; Joseph and Dylan Colwell; Felisia Schuster; great grandchildren Ethan and Katrina Schuster; also many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Roop and brother Jack Colwell. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Rd Oswego, IL. Funeral will be on Wednesday at 9:30 AM from the funeral home to St Anne Catholic Church 551 Boulder Hill Pass Oswego, IL for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial.
